Cataloging Legal Literature

Cataloging Legal Literature, 5th Edition, describes the authors' understanding of current descriptive subject cataloging and classification practices for legal materials.

Division of TItle

Part 1 covers the most common and troublesome legal publication questions regarding legal rules and uniform titles with an emphasis on electronic resources. The contents are divided into 8 chapters with subchapters and a linked table of contents. The contents include numerous links to other cataloging resources. In addition to description problems, there is a subject chapter that includes some examples of genre/form terms and, for the first time, a chapter on classification.

Part 2 consists of an alphabetical listing of legal terms, genres, and subject headings with definitions, RDA cataloging instructions, LC subject and genre/form term guidance, classification tips, examples, and some historical information. Link quickly between related subjects.
