About the Editors

Headshot of Michael SlingerMichael J. Slinger is a retired law library director and an Emeritus Professor of Law. He was a working professional law librarian for 38 years. During his career he held the following positions: Associate Director for Public Services at the University of Notre Dame Law Library, Law Library Director & Professor of Law at Suffolk University Law Library, Law Library Director and Associate Dean at Cleveland State University Law Library, and Director of the Legal Information Center, Professor of Law and Associate Dean at Widener University, Delaware Law School.

He taught both advanced and basic legal research courses as well as a course on the legal issues arising from the American Civil War. He continues to lecture and write on the American Civil War and related topics.

Professor Slinger served as a member of the Executive Committee of the American Association of Law Schools Section on Libraries; the American Bar Association Law Libraries Committee; is a past-president of the Ohio Regional Association of Law Libraries; and served as Chair of the Academic Special Interest Section of the American Association of Law Libraries. During his career he served on ABA law school inspection teams throughout the United States.

The author of more than a dozen articles published in law journals and law librarianship publications, he is a two-time winner of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Call for Papers Competition. 

 

Headshot of Sarah SlingerSarah C. Slinger is the Associate Director for Research Services in the University of Georgia School of Law Alexander Campbell King Law Library. She teaches a variety of introductory and upper-level legal research courses.

Before her tenure at the University of Georgia School of Law, she served as the Head of Instructional Services Law Librarian & Adjunct Professor of Law at Florida International University College of Law Library. She previously served in positions at the University of Miami Law Library, the University of Michigan Law Library, and completed a Library Fellowship at The University of Arizona’s Cracchiolo Law Library.

She is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries and the Southeastern Association of Law Libraries. Associate Director Slinger holds a Graduate Certificate in Law Librarianship from The University of Arizona, and a Hybrid Teaching Certification from Florida International University. She is a licensed member of the bars of Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.

Associate Director Slinger serves on the editorial boards of Legal Reference Services Quarterly and Law Library Journal and is an active scholar, focusing on law librarianship and environmental law issues. She has authored articles published in Law Library Journal, the University of Miami Race & Social Justice Law Review and the Journal of Legal Policy & Pandemics, as well as co-authoring the book chapter “A Voice in the Development of Amazonia: The Constitutional Rights to Participation of Indigenous Peoples” in Indigenous Amazonia: Regional Politics & Territorial Dynamics (Leal Filho ed.). Her scholarship has won AALL’s Call for Papers Award and the Gherardi Davis Prize for Vexillological Research.
